Eat candy like me (aka: the crazy way)

So for some reason I decided to outline my method of eating candy here, where everyone can read it and finally get hard proof that I’m nuts.

This really only applies to small bits of multi-colored or multi-flavored candy (M&Ms, Skittles, etc) — I have a separate system to eat candy that comes in bar form.

For this example I’m eating Yogos…

  1. Dump out the candy onto your table or desk. Try not to make too much noise if you are at work, or else your coworkers will notice what you’re doing and come over to make fun of you.
  2. Sort candy into piles, by color.
  3. Count the number of candies in each of the single-color groups.
  4. Even out the single-color groups so that each group has the same number of candies as the group with the smallest number. So if you have groups of 9-8-7-6, you would even them out to groups of six.
  5. Put these equal-numbered groups together into a new, multi-colored group. You’ll come back to this group later.
  6. Keep narrowing down the remaining candy into multi-colored groups as you did above, until you (possibly) have one color left. You may get lucky and have an even number, but I’ve never had that happen.
  7. Now, sort each of the new multi-colored groups into smaller groups of one of each color, organized by color from the most popular color to least. See the photo below.

The hard work is now done and you can start eating. But you need to eat the candy in a particular method as well. Start eating from the smallest groups up to the largest, one color at a time, by popularity. Using the photo as an example, I’d eat the all-blue group first. Then I’d eat the middle group, blue-dark blue-pink-blue-dark blue-pink. When those are gone, I’d move on to the largest group, eating blue-dark blue-pink-purple, and so on until they’re all gone.

Confused? Ready to commit me? .:sigh:. I guess I brought this upon myself…

Maple-Bacon Lollipops

Yes, these are real, not the figment of some sick person’s imagination.

I saw them posted somewhere online last week, and … well … if you know me at all, you shouldn’t be surprised that I had to try them. Especially after my bacon cookie experiment… which I never talked about here, apparently. [The bacon cookie recipe was found here, and they were delish.]

My verdict? Yum. They’re very sweet (Obviously. It’s candy.) but neither the maple nor the bacon flavor is overpowering. I fully expected them to have that gross fake maple flavor, but I’m happy to say that is not the case. The bacon bits were interesting when they became uncovered, but they weren’t gross or anything and even had a bit of a crunch to them.

Lollyphile also makes an absinthe lollipop (yes, from real absinthe), which I wasn’t about to try. I’ve had absinthe before and wasn’t a fan of the licorice-y taste of it.

Finally found them!

Ever since we saw a review over on Candy Addict, we’ve been on a search. We both love malt-flavored candy so these were right up our alley.

Any store we ventured into required a visit to the candy aisle, but we always walked away disappointed. We were positive that we’d never get to taste them. I did some Google-ing and found out that they were released back in September as a limited edition flavor, so the chances were good that they all got snapped up and were no longer available.

I was even tempted to buy a bag on eBay, but neither of us felt that a single bag of Kisses was worth $10 (what it would cost after shipping was added in), even though we were dying to try them.

Last week I read a comment on the above-linked post that K-Mart still had them in late December. Hope was still alive!

Today I hit up the local K-Mart during my lunch break. It was a long shot (in my opinion) that they would still be available — they were last spotted in stores about six weeks ago, so surely they were all gone by now.

At first glance I figured it was the same thing as usual — I didn’t see any. But then I got down on my knees and really peered and searched the shelves. Finally… there, at the back of a lower shelf, I spotted the elusive Chocolate Malt Crunch Hershey Kisses! Victory at last!

There were actually quite a few bags on the shelf — about fifteen — and it was hard not to grab them all… so I only grabbed six. Six bags should last a while, right?

Do they live up to the hype? Well… I gots to say, they’re pretty tasty. I like the little crunchy bits in them, and the malt flavor is pretty good. I really can’t eat more than a few at a time because the flavor gets a bit overpowering — but I really shouldn’t eat more than one or two anyway so it works out.
