Our Saturday, part one.

Today was pretty busy, at least for the first part of it.

We went over to Six Flags Great America to get our season passes. I have a Six Flags credit card and earn points for every dollar I charge. I finally built up enough points and got both me and Justin a free pass.

Of course, you can’t go to SFGAM without riding a few rides. It was nearly dead; the longest we had to wait was about 15 minutes.

We didn’t stay that long, less than two hours.

[edit] It was brought to my attention that the ride I call the “Tilt-a-Whirl” in the video is actually the “Whirlygig.” Sorry. I just knew that it had the word “whirl” in it.

Oh, and sorry for the crappy audio editing on the first (Six Flags) video. I don’t do that good.

testing something.

So today I decided to futz around with the video mode on my regular digital camera — a Nikon CoolPix 4500. Mostly just testing it out.

The first thing that I discovered that — while it will automatically flip photos when the lens is rotated backwards — it records video upside-down when pointing backwards. A bit annoying.

Then I discovered that it will only record for 35 seconds at a time. My cheap Aiptek will record continuously until the SD card runs out. Why can’t a $700 (at the time) camera do that?

So if I want to use it on a semi-regular basis, I’ll need to import a bunch of short videos into iMovie and stitch them together (not a problem), and if any of them are of my mug, I’ll first need to open each video in Quicktime and rotate it, then import it into iMovie.

Yar.

Yes, I do know how to rotate video. I thought this might make things a tiny bit more interesting.

I finally get a haircut.

The whole purpose of the video is to show off my recent haircut.

Chocolate Fest

Last Saturday (April 30th) Justin, Mom and I went to the Chocolate Fest in Long Grove, IL. It was packed, and I didn’t eat as much chocolate as I would have liked.

Justin wielded the camera a bit, and of course mostly kept aiming it at me.

Jeep Week - Video #5

I think this video is going to be the end of Jeep Week. Frankly I’m getting tired of editing all this video. I probably got most of the good parts out already — we unfortunately didn’t get a whole lot of trail time due to a few accidents (not in our group) that our trail leaders helped out with.

The videos are all kinds of out of order. This one is from early on in the day, while we’re waiting in the parking lot.
